We just went to Bernal this past weekend and enjoyed an entire day with our kids just blowing bubbles. It is a perfect place to visit, and just relax. It's a very clean town so chances are very good that most places would be. It is always acceptable to ask to see a room. Because it is a Mexican tourist destination, accomodations may be easier to get during the week.
