Living in Mexico and Learning to Speak Spanish: Tales & How-to Tips

The purpose of this blog is to provide information about Mexico -- mostly through my husband's and my day-to-day experiences of living in Mexico, specifically in San Juan Cosala, Jalisco, by Lake Chapala near Ajijic. I write for people who might live or retire in Mexico, for expats or travelers currently in Mexico, and for Mexicans. I write about how to learn to speak Spanish, why it's important, and how to get started. For more, visit my website www.mexico-with-heart.com as well! -- Rosana Hart

Final countdown before leaving for Mexico

5, 4, 3, 2, 1... and 1 again...

We were planning to leave tomorrow morning but the last couple of days have been too full already. Looks like we'll leave on Friday. We are seeing glimpses of relief ahead!

We're thinking about going south from Arizona, via Mazatlan, for some warmth and some beach time before going to Bernal. Haven't decided.

Back to the grind!

Your struggle to "get out" of a house is scaring me. We really should sell our house in Houston but the thought of clearing it out and getting rid of everything is what holds me back more than anything else. Not that I can't part with stuff but it is the physical effort to do it.

Keep us posted and especially when you get to Bernal.

My words of wisdom: get started gently when you're in Houston anyway.

Yep, it's an effort. Two things have helped a lot with the physical aspects: my wonderful massage therapist whom I have gone to more than usual, and Kelly's getting the solar hot tub on the house operational!

Stiff and sore Rosana, still with scrubbing and cleaning to do -- but we're out of the house, except for tomorrow morning's last-minute items!
