A Quick Update

In 2010, we moved back to the small town in Colorado that I never stopped missing while we lived in Mexico. Now I sometimes miss Mexico, but I wouldn't travel as freely as we did when we were there, camping out in remote areas and so forth.

Mexico today is in a period of change, and in many ways it is more dangerous now. That said, I have plenty of American friends who still live there very happily, just taking a few more precautions than they did in the past.

Just to say!

Expedia is my favorite place to book airfare, and they handle hotels, car rentals, cruises, etc. I like the organization of the site for figuring out what flights I want. Click on the suitcase to take a look.

Sept. 1, 2005 –When we were in Mexico earlier this year, we talked about selling our house in the United States, having a big garage sale, putting whatever we didn’t want to part with into storage, and living in Mexico for a year or so before deciding what to do next regarding housing. We have […]

August 8, 2005 — This weekend we went to the annual Crestone Music Festival. It’s a delightful two-day event, with many local and regional groups. I always feel that it captures the essence of our community. This year I was struck with how many of the pre-teen kids I can remember as toddlers. One of […]

July 5, 2005 —  On Independence Day, we enjoyed our small-town parade and saw lots of friends. It seemed the fitting time to announce what we had recently decided for sure… We are going to sell our home in Colorado. This doesn’t mean that we are going to buy a place in Mexico anytime real […]

July 3, 2005 — Every now and then I play around a while in Photoshop Elements, learning more of its features. It has a whole bunch of filters, and the other day I found a photo we’d taken at Media Luna, a lovely lake outside of Rio Verde in the state of San Luis Potosi. […]

July 22, 2005 —  A lot of conversation and thought went into deciding that since we are planning to live in Mexico for some time, we would sell our house here in Colorado, a decision we made early this month. But it hasn’t been feeling terrific. What about the dog, the cats, our stuff? What […]

July 12, 2005 — Last night, I was tired when we went to bed but then my mind clicked into a wide awake and clear state. This happens to me from time to time, and  I just lay there and thought for an hour or more. I had received a nice email yesterday from a […]

July 14, 2005 — I’m still catching up on my magazine reading from being away six months, and this afternoon I skimmed through the April issue of Wired. There’s a story there, the tale of four teenage boys in West Phoenix who had a couple of dedicated high school science teachers. The team took on […]

June 20, 2005 — A couple of days ago, Kelly and I went to a talk given by a photographer we know. Bill Ellzey has been a professional photographer for over 30 years, and his eye for natural beauty is vivid. One of his photos has even made the cover of National Geographic, something of […]

June 28, 2005 — Last night Kelly and I had dinner with a friend of ours here in Colorado. She is here part of the year, at her house in Italy at times, and recently got back from living on the Oregon coast for several months as a house exchange for her house in Italy. […]

June 24, 2005 — I find I’ve been mulling over my life in Mexico a lot in the last few days here in the US. We are still trying to figure out just how we want to lead our lives… I’m surprised at how many people that I chat with in my small town (Crestone) […]
