About Hotels in Mexico
The hotels of Mexico await you! From glittering luxurious resorts to
basic backpackers' digs, the variety is enormous. Especially in the
larger resorts and the main cities, you can find hotels of international
chains that you may be familiar with. You can find hotels offering parking,
restaurants, shops, fitness centers, business meeting rooms, and other
amenities.
Many of the smaller hotels in Mexico will be simpler but usually the
staff can guide you to whatever you need, from helping you choose what
to do in their city to finding an internet cafe.
This website offers you pages on the hotels of: Acapulco,
Cancun, Cuernavaca,
Guanajuato, Mexico
City, Puerto Vallarta, Rosarito
Beach, and Tijuana.
There are also charming country inns, personal bed and breakfasts,
condos, cabins or cottages, and vacation homes for rent in Mexico.
In budget Mexican hotels, the bathroom may be down the hall, there
may be no phone or TV in the room, and the furnishings may be threadbare.
Often there are fans instead of air conditioning. Generally, these places
are clean, but it's worth taking a look at your room (and sitting on
the mattress to check its quality) before deciding.
If you are a member of AAA, their Mexico Travel Book lists hotels that
the AAA inspectors have visited, with lots of details about the rooms,
the food, parking, etc. The book also acts as a general guidebook to
Mexico, not just a hotel guide.
When do you need to make reservations and when can you just show up?
Hotel reservations are great...
-
If you are arriving later
in the day or evening and want the security of knowing you have
a place to go.
-
If you would rather know
that your lodging in the city or resort in Mexico is taken care
of so you don't have to think about it.
-
If you get a great deal
on a Mexican airfare-and-hotel package... and there ARE a lot of
great deals out there!
-
If you know you want
to stay at a particular Mexican hotel, perhaps one a friend loved
or you have been to before
-
If you will be there
during the Christmas season, the week before or after Easter, or
times of local festivities, it's really important to reserve in
advance.
-
If you are going to a
resort area during its busiest season of December through April
-
If you are going to Mexico
City, Guadalajara, or other places in the central highlands during
their busiest season of June through August.
You can just show up (except during the very busy times)...
-
If you have already stayed
in a lot of Mexican hotels and know that the ones you favor always
have rooms.
-
If you are on a backpacker-level
budget and are staying in the modest-but-clean level of hotel for
which reservations may not be available.
-
If traveling without
a schedule is how you go.
- If you have an adventurous
spirit!
Wherever you go, enjoy your adventures! Everywhere in Mexico, there
will be hotels to suit your budget and your taste.
