Cancun Hotels

Cancun Island is almost 15 miles long but only about a quarter of a mile wide. It's known as the Hotel Zone, and there are dozens and dozens of hotels -- with an incredible variety of architecture. They are landscaped and furnished with flair. Just touring the hotels can be a vacation activity in itself.

Some of the hotels in the Hotel Zone are: Calinda Beach, Calinda Viva, Camino Real,Casa Turquesa, Club Internacional, Club Med, Continental Plaza Cancun, El Pueblito, Fiesta Americana, Flamingo, Hilton Beach & Golf Resort, Holiday Inn Express, Hyatt Cancun Caribe, Hyatt Regency, J.W. Marriott, Krystal Cancun, Le Meridien, Marriott Casa Magna, Melia Cancun, Melia Turquesa,Miramar Mision, Oasis and Grand Oasis,Oasis Playa, Omni, Presidente Inter-Continental, Sheraton Resort & Towers, Sierra, Solymar, The Ritz-Carlton, The Royal Resorts, The Royal Sands, The Westin Regina Resort, and Villas Tacul.

With so many hotels, each one tries to stand in different ways. Some are more secluded, while others are in the heart of everything. Two hotels flank some Mayan ruins you can only reach via their access. Rooms are designed to take advantage of the views of the Caribbean and of the Nichupte Lagoon, between the island and the mainland. You can swim in both waters, though the lagoon is calmer -- flags are used on the beaches to indicate the condition of the surf. Tennis and golf are available. There are spas, restaurants, nightspots, and shopping, all in the the Hotel Zone. You can have your entire Cancun vacation right there!

Some hotels are all-inclusive... that is, meals, activities, entertainment, and perhaps drinks are included in the price you pay.

Taking the family? There are hotels that cater particularly to families, and many of the others offer a lot of features for children.

As well as in the Hotel Zone, there are hotels in the city of Cancun, which is a short bus or taxi ride from the Caribbean sea. This is where the least expensive rooms are likely to be found.

In all, there are about 150 hotels in the whole Cancun area, with over 25,000 rooms in all price ranges. Even more hotels are along the coastline away from this area.

Cancun hotels fill up quickly during the week before and after Easter. Another popular time is Spring Break, from approximately late February to late April. So book early for those times, and for Christmas too.
