I enjoyed capturing my impressions of Ajijic in this photo collage of pictures my husband and I took there. Most were taken in Ajijic, but the one of hillside houses is in nearby Chula Vista, and the statue in the upper right was in front of a house in that area. The picture of mountains across Lake Chapala shows some of the liria or water hyacinth that grows on the lake, in the dark lines in the water.
The flowers cascading over a wall is a very common sight, year round. The Americans or Canadians chatting in the walkway next to Ajijic’s plaza is another common sight. There’s a strong quality of relaxation there.
Once I had assembled the photos in Photoshop Elements, I couldn’t resist playing around with some of the filters. “Posterizing” made the collage brighter and more dream-like than reality, which is how Ajijic feels to me!
