Walter Bibikow's Photo Posters of Mexico
When I came across the work of Walter Bibikow, I was browsing the
posters
of Mexico at AllPosters.com
for pictures to add to this site. I should admit that at first I
thought he might be an artist who painted from photos, specially
after looking at the first picture I've shown here, of ancient Mayan
ruins. But my husband Kelly, who has himself been a professional
photographer, set me straight. These are photos.
I got curious about Walter Bibikow, and found some information
about him on the web. He's an American photographer with a commercial
photographic studio in Boston, whose images have been widely used
in many ways for decades.
He travels about half the year, to places of his choosing around
the world, and spends enough time to really get the feeling of the
locations. Sounds like a fascinating life, and we can enjoy the
results of his work, in these posters of Mexico.
I included the poster of the Chapultepec
balcony in Mexico City because when I saw the vivid black-and-white
tiles, I suddenly remembered that I had been there when I was nine!
