A Quick Update

In 2010, we moved back to the small town in Colorado that I never stopped missing while we lived in Mexico. Now I sometimes miss Mexico, but I wouldn't travel as freely as we did when we were there, camping out in remote areas and so forth.

Mexico today is in a period of change, and in many ways it is more dangerous now. That said, I have plenty of American friends who still live there very happily, just taking a few more precautions than they did in the past.

Just to say!

Visit Expedia…

Expedia is my favorite place to book airfare, and they handle hotels, car rentals, cruises, etc. I like the organization of the site for figuring out what flights I want. Click on the suitcase to take a look.

Because San Carlos, Sonora, is so close to the United States and has such an agreeable winter climate, many snowbirds greatly enjoy staying there for days, weeks, or months.

On a recent trip there ourselves, my husband and I enjoyed wireless internet access from our motorhome and being right across the street from a beach where you could walk for miles, or should I say kilometers?

There are several RV parks to choose from in the San Carlos and Guaymas area. We stayed at the Totonaka RV Park, and walked through the Hacienda Tetakawi next door, which looked quite similar, though its back area was not in use. Since we travel with a dog who needs his exercise, that might have been handier, but as it was, we mostly just took our dog over to the beach.

A very high-quality place outside of San Carlos is the El Mirador RV Park. Another place that we plan to try sometime is between San Carlos and Guaymas, in the Miramar area. It’s part of the great old Hotel Playa de Cortes.
